She wants me to go to heaven
explores the difficulty of communication in the
use of speech, language and the making of meaning. On the one hand there is
the sound of a typewriter that drowns out a woman talking . On the other hand there
is the image of a man, possibly her partner who sits still but is always at the
point of speaking. Eventually he speaks and asks the question: 'but what shall
I say? Each of the characters reflect their own difficulty and insufficiency in communicating; The woman's obsessive voice is extinguished by the sound of the typewriter and the silence of the man is intensified by his gestures; when the man begins to tell his story about the search for truth, it collapses and he falls into laughter, his speech disintegrates into incoherent fragments. There is a transformation from jokes and laughter into bleak melancholy.
